DEAD DONKEYS COME TO AARHUS FOLLOWING THE PREMIERE AT CPH:DOX

After a little break, Doc Lounge Aarhus is back with a new screening, this time we are putting our forces together with the Centre for Environmental Humanities (CEH) at Aarhus University. Documentary of the month will be Joakim Demmer's 'Dead Donkeys Fear No Hyenas' which did the world premiere at CPH:DOX last month. In order to shed more light on the concept of land grabbing and the current situation, the screening will be followed by a panel discussion.

Dead Donkeys Fear No Hyenas is a documentary about land grabbing in Ethiopia that took the director Joakim Demmer 6 years to complete. He saw the paradox in the country where millions of people were dependent on the food being delivered by the EU, the World Bank and DFID, which were corporations exporting food to developed countries. In this documentary thriller, he traces this paradox to land grabbing and the global rush for farmland - the new green gold! 

Dead Donkeys Fear No Hyenas investigates these foreign land investments and exposes their impact on people’s lives. In the pursuit of truth, we meet investors, development bureaucrats, persecuted journalists, struggling environmentalists and small farmers deprived of their land.

The panel discussion following the screening will hopefully inform you all further on the situation in Ethiopia (and other African countries) and the truth behind land grabbing. The panel participants are
