Maximum Pleasure
Doc Lounge Christmas Special
Welcome to Doc Lounge Helsinki Christmas Special on Wednesday December 17th at 7:30 pm at Lavaklubi! The last club of the year encourages us to think about consumption as the holiday season approaches.
The main film of the evening is the hilarious Maximum Pleasure (Katarzyna Tzraska, Poland 2014, 47 min). Whereas the successful Finnish documentary Tavarataivas (2013) dealed with consumption through ascetical experimentation, the grandmas we meet in Maximum Pleasure are almost drowning in purchases and installments. The cheerful documentary has a tragic angle, and the topic is as current as ever. The evening kicks off with ELO Helsinki Film School student film Friday Child (Tinja Ruusuvuori, Finland 2014, 17 min).
Friday Child tells the story of a daughter, who only get to see her mother during the weekend. While at her mother’s, life is like a celebration: they dress up as ghosts and sing curious songs. When the weekend is over, it is time for letting go. The director is present after the film for a short Q&A. Both films are subtitled in English.
