Everyone Is Older Than I Am

Portraying one of Swedens most renowned directors requires courage. While depicting family members. Martin Widerberg has done both. In 1979, Bo Widerberg started to work on a film about his father, the artist Arvid Widerberg, but it was never completed.

For four years, Martin has worked with his film All are older than I am. The title is the same as when Bo started in 1979, but not the film. All of them are older than I mix scenes from Bos films, the film material with Arvid, archival films, family films and nyfilmade scenes. A close and poetic depiction where Martin explores his own relationship to his father and grandfather, but also himself as the father. Despite the love and good intentions, it is difficult to meet.
