Medborgaren (The Citizen) is a road-movie documentary about a group of men living in homelessness and addiction. Together they travel to Brussels to represent Sweden during an EU meeting about poverty and alienation. During their trip they visit a monastary, stay at a luxury hotel and mingle in the corridors of power. How do the men handle these experiences compared to their everyday life in Malmö, Sweden? Are people paying any attention to them or does the meeting simply confirm their alienation? Medborgaren (The Citizen) is a happy, socio-realistic documentary in genuine EU surroudings.
