Welcome to Järbo State

Annelie Olsson, 75 min, Sweden.

This is a gentle and beautiful portrayal of life in Järbo (a small village in the county of Dalsland, Sweden) with fewer inhabitants than in an apartment building, that once wrote to Ronald Reagan and asked for permission to be the 53rd state in America. Reagan replied politely and told them that's not really the way it works.

We meet some genuine "Järbo-folks" in their everyday-life as well as in the extraordinary, where both seriousness and humor fits in. Throughout the film the fact that won't go unnoticed is that there is a great love for American cars and a fighting spirit to retain the village school, and last but not least that in Järbo it as an art to hunt for moose.
