Doc Lounge goes East (almost to the Russian border)!
As this season is progressing we wanted to spotlight one of our new Doc Lounge cities that just hosted its first events! Joensuu is located next to the Russian border and about 400 km North-East of the Finish capital. The venue for Doc Lounge events in Joensuu is the Kerubi, which is a culture House located in an island in the city central. Following Doc Lounge's close association with the music scene, the culture house is owned by Joensuu Pop Musicians’ Association, an institution that has been around for over 40 years. Doc Lounge Joensuu is planning to host 9 screenings from September to May, once a month. The first event was held on September 20th and featured British documentary ‘The Imposter’. The Imposter opened the Finnish Doc Lounge season, with all Doc Lounges in the country offering a preview of this fascinating film. We welcome all the Doc Lounge Joensuu crew and especially Petri Varis the new Project Manager and wish them all the best for exciting events in their city.
