Doc Lounge heads to Finland to host Small Talks at Nordisk Panorama 2012!

Doc Lounge Network will make a special appearance as hosts of Small Talks at Nordisk Panorama. The Small Talks sessions offer in-depth discussions with the directors of some of the Nordisk Panorama‘s most compelling films along with a chance to ask questions in a more intimate setting, Oulu’s infamous music bar Special 45. The first session of Small Talks on Sunday 23 at 18:00 will focus on off beat music documentaries and discuss how these films portray creativity on screen, the distance between the image and reality of the musician, and why we're drawn to films about music in the first place. As well as talking to the directors of The Punk Syndrome and Grandma Lo:Fi – The basement tapes of Sigrídur Níelsdóttir, we’ll also be celebrating the world premier of Finnish Blood, Swedish Heart. After the session, you are invited to enjoy a drink at Special 45 with the Doc Lounge team. Later Small Talks sessions will look at the role of the filmmaker in human rights issues with directors Fredrik Gertten (Big Boys Gone Bananas!*) and Petr Lom (Back to the Square) on Monday at 17:00. The third and final Small Talk asks whether documentaries about children can offer a new perspective and where the filmmakers responsibilities lie, at 15:00 on Tuesday 25. Joining us will be Danish directors Vibeke Bryld (Bedtime Stories from the Axis of Evil), Aage Rais-Nordentoft (Me Without You) and Emelie Wallgren (The Quiet One). As well as hosting the Small Talks, Doc Lounge will also bringing together the Network’s project managers from Doc Lounges across the Nordic countries. This is an opportunity to exchange innovative approaches to documentary special events and promotion and work together on future plans. We look forward to developing our Nordic network and making new connections during our time at Nordisk Panorama. The Doc Lounge Team can be contacted at Nordisk Panorama on: info@doclounge.se
