Doc Lounge to develop a distribution strand

Doc Lounge have been working more than ten years in bringing new docs to big audiences through conceptual event screenings within our network of Doc Lounge clubs. We have always tried hard to push our boundaries through development projects and innovation. We're very exited to take the next step in expanding our organisation to also include official documentary distribution within Sweden!

The first film in our own distribution is Finnish documentary Punk Voyage, the eagerly awaited sequel to the audience favourite Punk Syndrome (2012), about Finlands most beloved punk band Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät. Punk Voyage follows the band who's members all has different intellectual disabilities, during their last tour which brings them all the way to the Eurovision Song Contest. It's an unforgettable journey, filled with laughter, tears and drama.

The Swedish release for the film will consist of unique Doc Lounge screenings at our own clubs, a big Doc Lounge Live-event in collaboration with Folkets Hus och Parker with preview screenings and live broadcast to cinemas, libraries and cultur houses as well as proper cinema distribution to cinemas all over Sweden. The film will release on February 9, 2018. (The Doc Lounge Live event is on February 6)

With the release of Punk Voyage, we want to share our experience in outreach and audience development, so we will help all screening partners with strategies and tools to boost their outreach work and help the film reach new audiences.
