Katharine Simpson is leaving
After four and half years Katharine Simpson has decided to step down from her position as Co-director at Doc Lounge to move on to new adventures. Katharine started as Network manager in 2012 and have played an important role in the latest development and growth of the organisation. She has also been a great collegue and member of the team and she will be greatly missed. We wish her all the best!
She wrote us a few words to share about her time with Doc Lounge:
"It's been an incredible experience working with Doc Lounge - as a director of this unique organisation I've had the pleasure of traveling around the Nordic countries - on tiny planes across beautiful landscapes, to parties on boats in Norway, long train journeys through snowy wildernesses in Sweden, and to swim in icy seas and enjoy the saunas of Finland... As a Scot, it's been a perfect way to discover what wonders the Nordic countries have to offer - not to mention the fantastic documentaries that are produced here.
In between this travel there has been a lot of hard work at head office - together with the staff, network and board we have both brought stability to the organisation as well as keeping our work fresh and exciting - working with the most essential and breathtaking films; establishing new areas of activity and reaching out to new audiences. It's been amazing to see what can be achieved when a diverse mix of partners are motivated behind shared goals and beliefs - that documentaries are for everyone and that they have the power to make the world a better place.
Throughout my time at Doc Lounge I've been welcomed into a warm and inspiring group of people - not just in our own network across the Nordic cities Doc Lounge works in - but also the wider Nordic film community we belong to. It's been an honour to be included in this rich cultural family and I'm leaving this role with many new wonderful friends and colleagues.
It's been a blast... and I wish Doc Lounge and my lovely colleagues huge success in the future."

Co-directors Maja Lindquist and Andrea Arvidsson will continue to run the organisation together with Office and Network manager Annika Johnson.
