Look of Silence coming to Doc Lounge
In 2012, director Joshua Oppenheimer’s The Act of Killing swept across the world - including here at Doc Lounge - and opened many eyes to the brutal and systematic killings that took place in Indonesia in 1965-66. Now it’s time for The Look of Silence, the companion film to The Act of Killing, to do the same.
If the first film focused on the murderers, The Look of Silence looks at the victims. It follows the optometrist Adi as he - despite the inherent dangers - faces his brother’s killers and asks them to take responsibility for what they have done. Can he break 50 years of silence?
The Look of Silence will be screened across Doc Lounges in Sweden and Finland during the Fall season, starting next week. More dates are coming, but currently the following screenings are official:
Doc Lounge Malmö, Sweden - September 15
Doc Lounge Turku, Finland - September 17
Doc Lounge Lund, Sweden - October 13
The film will also be screened in Göteborg, Sundsvall, Oulu, Tampere and Joensuu. Keep your eyes on the calendar for future dates and see the trailer below! The Look of Silence is shown at Doc Lounge as a part of Moving Docs. Moving Docs is an EDN initiative supported by Creative Europe and Region Skåne.
