New coordinator for Doc Lounge Finland
Yesterday it was made official that we have a new coordinator for Doc Lounge in Finland! Emilia Wahlberg, who has a degree in cultural production, has a lot of experience of working with films and documentaries - she’s worked as producer at the children and youth documentary film event DOKKINO, organised a short film club in Helsinki, has made pop up cinemas in the Baltic countries and worked as an artist and volunteer coordinator at music festivals… And that’s just a very small part of her long resume.
“My vision for the future of Doc Lounge Finland is that we will have more Doc Lounge clubs all around Finland and attract an even wider and more diverse audience,” Emilia said. “One of our goals is to work with interesting new partners and organise more special clubs, like outdoor screenings or with special themes. I hope that more people will find their way to our Doc Lounge clubs because of the interesting films, topics and other programs.”
“There have been great documentary projects in Finland that have brought documentaries closer to people who normally don’t watch documentaries very often,” she added. “I think there is a growing interest in documentaries in Finland but we just have the figure out new ways to get people even more involved with the films. Doc Lounge Finland has done a great job and I think there is a lot of potential going forward!"
