Tora Mkandawire Mårtens, 90 min, Sweden.In 2010 Martha Nabwire and Niki Tsappos took part in the biggest international Street Dance Competition, Juste Debout in Paris. It was the first time ever two women became World Champions in Hip Hop. This film depicts their love of dance, each other and about friendship put to the test. About desires, yearning and finding the right path in life.
Tora Mårtens have made both fiction and non-fiction films, several of them short films like For Maria and Dolce Vita with Bacon. Her previous full-length documentary, Colombianos, was shown at Doc Lounge in 2012.
The Swedish screenings are done in collaboration with Folkets Bio.
Martha and Nicki is presented in collaboration with Moving Docs - a EDN initiative supported by Creative Europe, with the aim to create innovative outreach strategies and provide opportunities for urban and rural European audiences to enjoy regular screenings of documentary films through a wide variety of media and platforms.
