Doc Point Festival to run Doc Lounge Helsinki!
From 2015, the leading Finnish documentary festival Doc Point will manage the production of Doc Lounge Helsinki. At Doc Lounge HQ we are very happy to see this new collaboration with Doc Point, bringing special event previews of the most exciting new documentaries to the Finnish capital.
Doc Point's Artistic Director Ulla Simonen writes: "Doc Lounge is a well-known and successfull concept that offers DocPoint an opportunity to broaden our documentary events to a new field: to bars and clubs. For us this is an organic step, as through Doc Lounge we can carry out our task of boosting the status of documentary film in Finland all year round."
Sami Jahnukainen, producer at Mouka film (The Punk Syndrome) and the chairman of the Finnish Film Club Association who manage Doc Lounge Finland, adds: "We are very excited about the new partnership with DocPoint. Being the organizer of one of the biggest documentary film events in the Nordic countries, DocPoint is an ideal partner for spreading the magic of documentary film and Doc Lounge to a wider audience, year round."
There are currently 5 places in Finland where you can find Doc Lounge events, including at Doc Lounge Turku, Joensuu, Oulu, Tampere and of course Helsinki.
Doc Point has been collaborating on some events in Helsinki this season, including this Wednesday's Maximum Pleasure, but will take over the running of Doc Lounge Helsinki formally at the start of 2015.
Doc Point Coordinator Liina Sipilä will now also be Project Manager for Doc Lounge Helsinki year round. Welcome to the family Liina!
